"Brisbane lagged behind the southern capitals a little when it came to embracing Spanish Energia but, hola were making up it for it now. Housed in a heritage-listed barracks, peasant is funky with cool street art murals, eclectic lighting and offers a lively selection of wines from Spain and Portugal…the churros are a sensual treat."

"While it’s true glory may be difficult to see in the dim mood lighting of night, Peasant is visually spectacular… The food is simple, earthy and charming witht the flavours and textures expertly balanced… Owners Jamie Webb and Andrew baturo should be commended on this brave and exciting outfit. 15.5/20"

"Peasant is a fresh and welcome addition to the now buzzy dining scene of this precinct and seems to have broad appeal – tables packed with all ages, some dressy gen-ys sipping macabeo and speed gossiping next to a rowdy group of baby boomers and some soccer mums in gym gear sharing lots of little tastes – and no one seemed out of place. 14/20"

"The drinks list is almost entirely Spanish and the bits in between are portugese or south American. That applies to the beer list as much as the wine list and I reck it is an appluadable (and brave) move…the food is rustic in a good way, presented simply, relying on good flavour comninations and decent ingredients to give the food it’s lustre. 7.5/10"
